Sankaty Head Lighthouse

Historical · Landmark

A red-striped lighthouse on a bluff on Nantucket, dating back to 1850. Scenic ocean views, a nearby golf course, and the kind of quiet beauty that makes you want to write a novel or at least pretend you’re going to. In 2007, it was moved 390 feet back from the eroding cliff edge to save it from falling into the sea. The lighthouse is a survivor.
