The Very First Walmart

On July 2, 1962, Sam Walton opened the first Wal-Mart Discount City at 719 W. Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. Over 500 people were waiting in line before the doors opened. It had 16,000 square feet of floor space. Today, Walmart has over 10,000 stores in 19 countries, $640+ billion in annual revenue, and 2.3 million employees. It all started in a small town in Arkansas because one guy was really committed to low prices.
